hear! bloody! hear! "historically informed performance" has more to do with history in the abstract and scholarship than it does with music. to believe that what is played today is the same as what was played hundreds of years ago is pure conceit. to dismiss a performance as somehow in-genuine because of some stultifying historical criteria is pure arrogance.
