Mine too.  First some Shakespeare I saw when I was in grade school in  
the 50's, then Julian Bream's lute playing in the 60's, and Elizabeth  
R in the 70's are what got me interested in Elizabethan music and in  
particular the lute.

I agree.  I can't think of one Elizabethen period movie since  
Elizabeth R that would have got me interested enough to follow up on  
the music.  I think it must have been that the soundtrack of  
Elizabeth R was in fact the real thing.

Not to change the subject too drastically, but I'd be curious to know  
how others on the list became interested in lute playing.  Any  
particular influences?
