Dear Thomas, thanks for your message. Is the painting you speak about the one on my website, which was studied by Giorgio Ferraris and some other lutenists, on show in Florence? ( See also his website). I was the one who discovered the music is by Gaultier. What is strange, is that the painting is said to have been painted by Gabbiani, but this raises some questions about the music ( French, ancient, in Italy?), the instrument, the player. Can you tell us something more?
