Omer, you should look at Spinacino 1507 for several Agricola pieces. In the seminal History of the lute by D.A. Smith we read the following about those Newsidler pieces:
"Newsidler says he left some pieces unadorned so that the inexperienced could play them. He lavishly embellished other pieces, and they are difficult to play at a proper tempo. He writes of his intabulation of Alexander Agricola's Cecus: Here follows a piece in two parts called der Alexander by the old singers. It is very artful and almost all clausen of music are contained in it. It is also embellished very straightforwardly and piquantly with the very best organistic coloratur or divisions, the likes of which nobody has ever seen his whole life long. G. PS. A copy of both Spinacino and Newsidler are found courtesy of D. Towne on the eminent Fronimo yahoo groups site. The Newsidler actually contains 4 pieces by AA: 1) Jay vien ahur. "J'ay bien a huer" in Odhecaton A, 2) Ave sanctissima. der erste theil / Der ander theil. 3) Ander nacken up dem Rhin. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Omer katzir" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <lute@cs.dartmouth.edu> Sent: Friday, September 28, 2007 5:13 PM Subject: [LUTE] hi guys, 2Q's for you > does any one knows where to get Alexander Agricola Lute tabs for lute > (French/Italian)? > > + > > Hans newsidler's have 2 pices named after AA, what's the story behind > them? > > > > thank you all > > Omer Katzir > http://omerkatzir.com To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
