Well, the sound is different, that is for sure.
The sound signature is due to multiple reflections and positioning 
the mics such that the reflected sound is as strong or stronger than 
the direct sound.
However, because it does not sound quite like sitting at the back of 
the church, I supect reverb was added on top of the reverb from the space.
Possibly, in the case, some of the brightness comes from the added reverb,

Hey, the market loves reverb! I have had some comments over the years 
that my CDs were a bit "dry" but never one that they were too reverby.
Let's see how it goes. I'm doing some Bach in August, maybe I should 
really crank up the reverbeeerrrbbbeerbberb.
