How nice to hear from you! It's great to know how that effect worked.
Thinking about this subject put me in mind of the recent photos
on your website showing light shining through a lute back, but
even those don't show quite the intensity that's apparent in that
photo. So it's not an effect many of us will be able to replicate...

Hi Denys,
that lute is made of ivory, which is why the effect works . . . I  
replaced its soundboard, back in 1983, I think.
