Hi, I'm wondering if anybody has done a survey of string spacing on extant lutes? The few examples I have seen show considerable variation - for example the 7-c Venere with 59 cm string length shows exceptionally close spacing (if memory serves it's arond 35mm across the first six courses) but most seem to be about 45mm to 50mm across the first six courses. Has a comprehensive survey been done? Bill
