no - I think it's mostly the page contents (sometimes locale has an effect
if it's because of the width of a character). I might see the problem with
a url.
Looking with the url I see at the bottom of the picture, and moving the
cursor up/down (I'm on windows right now), I do see that it's odd that the
status line seems to get some debris on it (something to check on linux).
It also happens in $HOME and other local directories, but the URL from the
screenshot is http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-kernel&r=1&b=200512&w=2
And it also happens in local text files. A symptom is that they start missing
the last line or few lines.
I'm on linux again, and don't see a problem (the debris in the status line
appears to be one of the cygwin console window's bugs - I know that it
has trouble clearing to the end of lines).
I don't see any non-ASCII characters in the page you pointed me to - so it
doesn't _seem_ as if locale would be an issue.
A check on the current and stable changelogs for Slackware doesn't show
anything from this calendar year. What does "tic -V" say?
