There is nothing wrong with "ncurses color support."  Ncurses can only
beleive what you tell it.  Rather than use a hand edited terminal
description, try one of the stock ones like "linux" that support color,
and if it works for you, modify it to match your terminal [emulation].

TERM=vt100; export TERM         ==>>  monochrome Lynx
TERM=linux; export TERM         ==>>  Lynx in full color
