So, I have the latest svn build on my PPC PowerBook, and it's very nice! It's at least as fast as 1.4.x (maybe faster), and some of the bugs seem to be worked out. So I guess that means it's time to introduce more! ;)
Really?! I have nothing close to the same speed on PPC iMac. (Have you tried filling the screen with text?)
Bennett

My document is 30-some-odd pages, with a dozen or so images, an index, TOC, etc. I have noticed that typing is a bit slower; or more accurately, the text appearing is a bit slower. I can still type as fast as I want.

That's hard for me to believe given my experience. After more than a few paragraphs, I have to wait about .5 to 1 second for each character to appear on screen. I can't imagine a PPC PowerBook is that much faster than my 1.25 GHz iMac.

You've seen my build instructions; are you doing anything different?

Bennett

Not doing anything different. My PB is the 17" 1.33gHz with 2gB memory. Not as fast as my desktop, but it works.

I did just stop using the 1.5, as it won't generate PDF output.
