I admit that this is true, and I admit that I didn't contribute anything to the unicode stuff yet. This is mainly because I didn't get into it yet, and because I was busy with fixing bugs in the 1.4.x series (and quite busy in real life ATM). However, I also admit that I felt offended by the perception of being a person just sitting in the living room, even on a "virtual" friday and even given that I partially understand your frustration. I'm afraid I cannot serve with a satisfying solution, but I repeat my offer to help out improving things if a solution turns out to be acceptable. If no such solution can be found, I will be the last to complain about it. I hope this makes things clearer. Jürgen
