I can add a reference to ANNOUNCE. First I'd like to check what page the

Yes, and we could add the reference to RELEASE-NOTES where this information could go in a static way.

That page needs an update... For instance, It refers to an alpha release
of LyX, and includes/embeds

        http://www.lyx.org/trac/browser/lyx-devel/trunk/Status.15x

which no longer exists.

Hmm... I'm trying to get an overview of this. We have the following files:

* trunk/README
* trunk/ANNOUNCE
* trunk/NEWS
* trunk/RELEASE-NOTES
* trunk/status

What's the purpose of the different files... Here's what I've figured out so far:

* trunk/README - this is to be read first by someone using the source. It
  should give pointers about where to go next. Is this file also
  available with an _installed_ version of LyX? (i.e. on Windows where
  most users will go for an installer)

* trunk/ANNOUNCE - the source/copy of the announcement that's sent out
  when a new version is released.

* trunk/NEWS - eh... also used for an announcement? (I feel I'm forgetting
  something here...)

* trunk/RELEASE_NOTES -

* trunk/status - ?

Where and how should we list known bugs in the (beta) of 1.5?

We can work in the wiki and just before release we can copy that information to RELEASE-NOTES. Does this sounds like a plan? ;-)

If I understand you, RELEASE-NOTES will contain information about known bugs at the time we release 1.5?

I'm not so sure we should mix references to the wiki with static information. Using the wiki to prepare information is ok of course.

So should ANNOUNCE really refer to the wiki, or should it refer to RELEASE-NOTES?

PS

About README: I think the text about version numbers could say that the LyX file format is never changed within a LyX 1.x-series, only between say 1.4 and 1.5. Should I make a suggestion and send it to the list?
