While doing these changes, it would be not too hard to add some
additional information to the layout. It would be interesting IMO to
display (in grey) the document class model right to the layout name
where the layout comes from. E.g. next to Theorem a grey "AMS" would
be written.

Hi!
After many scrolling orgies when changing the paragraph layout via
the dropdown list, I implemented some clever filtering. Just open
the layout list (e.g. via M-p space) and start typing characters of
the layout names. Only those layouts are shown which have the
entered characters as subsequence in their name. See below the two
screenshots after typing "sub" and "a*".
