If you refer to "protect", it would suffice outputting \hspace*{0.5em}
instead of \enspace.

To be frank, I never noticed it. Do you mean that somewhere in 1.4 there's
an option to insert "Enspace" which really translates to \enskip?
In this case it would simply be a case of renaming something and I see
no need for a format change.

Dunno. I simply noticed the mismatch after the introduction of the
context menu and thanks to the "View Source" feature, otherwise I
would have missed it (until I had used an enspace in vertical mode,
of course ;-)
