Here is a short patch which does just that. If it works, it would be a
safe candidate for branch (even to do 1.5.6 respins).

branch with this patch applied?
Despite the instructions given on the wiki I did not manage to do that
by myself, last time I tried (something with autogen did not work out).
I cannot test the patch otherwise.
