This is caused by reading/writing the session info at the wrong time. I did some analysis of the problem at http://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/8520, but I am not familiar with the session stuff and don't know how to proceed. The only thing I want to see in 2.1.0 is any solution for the layout backward compatibility problem: It should be possible to introduce new styles in 2.1.x releases that would still work with 2.1.x-1. Without this feature we would probably get lengthy discussions again once a class gets updated. I made a proposal for this some days ago, but got no comment so far. I do not want to push this particular proposal, I just want to see any solution. Georg
