I barely remember of them being used more in the past. At some point, it was
shown that they were pulling in 7K LoC in the compilation, slowing down
compilation and linking, can't remember if also run-time speed. So they were
dropped in favour of custom far simpler dispatching mechanisms (perhaps,
WorkAreaManager was one of these?)
