Hi devels,
I have a 8bit PseudoColor XServer running on an IBM RS/6000 250. I start
LyX 1.1.6 on our server, an IBM H70.
Problems:
1) LyX runs out of colors after loading a file:
LyX: Couldn't allocate 'linen' for background with (r,g,b)=(64250,61680,59110).
Using closest allocated color with (r,g,b)=(63744,61184,61696) instead.
Pixel [30] is used.
LyX: Couldn't allocate 'DarkRed' for latex with (r,g,b)=(35723,0,0).
Using closest allocated color with (r,g,b)=(31488,0,0) instead.
Pixel [79] is used.
LyX: Couldn't allocate 'AntiqueWhite' for math background with
(r,g,b)=(64250,60395,55255).
Using closest allocated color with (r,g,b)=(63744,61184,61696) instead.
Pixel [30] is used.
LyX: Couldn't allocate 'DarkBlue' for math with (r,g,b)=(0,0,35723).
Using closest allocated color with (r,g,b)=(9216,8960,36352) instead.
Pixel [75] is used.
2) LyX takes very long to start (25 seconds)
This seems to be related to the new colorful banner of LyX. When I
disable it in the new fine preferences dialog, I have no color
problems anymore and the startup time reduces to 1.7 seconds (!!)
I think the full color banner should not be used on 8bit displays. I
don't know the performance differences on TrueColor displays...
Have fun,
