Do you think the warning is too extreme?

No, this is sadly true. Just replacing LyX files will break
LyX's functions. One need to set the PATH prefix in LyX etc.
to keep it running. So it OK to warn people.

Clearly, it would be better to build the complete installer,
but I'm not sure if it is worth the effort, especially
because Uwe is working mainly on Windows.

Well, I can now grab your build and bundle an installer for
LyX 2.2 alpha based on Qt 5.5. But note that there is a
nasty bug in Qt 5.5 on Windows which forces us to wait for
Qt 5.6.

Tanks, but not worth the effort.
And I will disable it again because it's only a waste
of electric energy if not a real installer is created.

many thanks Peter and best regards
Uwe
