In my case it was not slow, it did hang (for an hour until I noticed it and killed the processes). But I have a suspicion: After sending the message and xelatex, I saw some metafont processes popping up. Therefore I believe that the last time I did run these tests LyX did create a more broken file than now (thanks to Günters work), and xelatex stopped very early. Now, the exported fils is improved, so that xelatex actually tries to generate japanese fonts for the first time, and font generation is not protected correctly against parallel execution. I'll try again during the next days, after exporting each file manually to ensure that the fonts are generated properly. Thanks for testing, Georg
