Cmake still searches first for version 2.7, see line CMakeLists.txt:683 in 
branch 2.2.x.
The version is written into CMakeCache.txt in the build-dir.
Using the same CMakeCache.txt on different environments may have the effect you 
describe.
Otherwise I don't understand what happens.
