the bug fix release 2.3.1-1 is available for download and fixes the tex2lyx 
issue.

Your question regarding the hunspell I cannot see why the detection of the 
library from homebrew at runtime should improve the situation. But perhaps I 
misunderstood your question. 

The addition of an option to make tex2lyx quiet is possible, but the best way 
would be to file an enhancement request on LyX trac or the send a mail to the 
developers list.
