I wonder why anyone feels offended at all.
First of all, it was Friday (or almost Friday), second, a lot of noise
could have been prevented, if anybody would have pointed to the "false
assumptions" and "right answers" from the beginning.
For one-not-so-deeply-involved (like me e.g.), Larry's questions have not
been non-sensical after all. GUII might indeed look like a complete waste
of ressources for outsiders.
Some of the answers that might have been given:
- Look at messages <.....> in the mailing list archives
- GUII contributes a lot to the general cleanup, thus makes LyX more stable
and easier maintainable in the long run
- People want to do GUII
- People doing GUII would not necessarily do other LyX work
