Errrr. Why would it? Do you see a "sort" option anywhere? This is preliminary
support for natbib
It does, however, (or it should and does with me) write
\usepackage[authoryear]{natbib}
or
\usepackage[numbers]{natbib}
I suggest that if you want "sort" then you edit the latex file by hand.
Temporary fix of course.
