Why the two extra keystrokes? A mere <space> is perfectly consistent and
nonambiguous. Inserting a single mathmode letter used to take 4
keystrokes, with this change it's 6.
The old mathed had things *really* right and tight in respect to
keyboard actions -- it never seemed to require more than logically
necessary. That made mathed a joy to use. Please don't lose that
elegance.
Ditto for LFUN MATH_SPACE (1 extra keystroke) and \vec (2 extra
keystrokes every time you <right> past it).
BTW, \vec is broken in cvs -- try "M-v v".
