3.2 is a rather buggy release by any account (c++/8287 being a
favourite).

However, I use gcc 3.2, compiled from source, and it compiles fine. So
it seems it's a vendor problem.

I suggest  you open a ticket with SuSE to make sure they're aware of the
bug, and can fix it.

I don't think we should work around this.
