I somehow don't get the impression of an agreement. John is basically saying "Don't touch it, it took ages for me to fix a few special cases", Lars is seemingly saying "Don't use begin == end for empty containers", Angus is randomly grepping for "end" in strange corners of the source and you had a somewhat accusing tone that I should have done something earlier.
