The two does not necessarily have the same solution. Text is always in some specific language, regardless of environment. The font is different, it could be inherited from some outer environment. So when setting, say, emphasize, inheritance can be used to propagate this into inner insets. Copy+paste such an inset into other text and it may or may not become emphasized there, depending on the outer text. But tthe language does not change, for text language remains even if pasted into a section with a different language. The discussed patch manages to get this right for the language. So it solves part of the generic problem, at least. Helge Hafting
