etc. is *pure* SGML. In LyX 1.2, there is a special environment for pure
SGML: it is called "SGML". Text that you type in that environment is
exported "as is", that is you get the SGML you typed. Now reconfigure your
LyX first, so that you hopefully get to see that "DocBook SGML book" class
and then try to "export -> DocBook" (not DocBook XML). You will see that the
above is exported as

Thanks for the clarification. I was interested because of a
project John Pye started for converting FrameMaker to
Docbook and wanted insight into a complicated process.
