Can an NSIS compiler be compiled to output a backtrace of a some error? If
memory serves, there was a recent report of a crash in Win98's kernel32.dll.

I wrote the code in the LyX installer plugin to throw on error. It should then
catch these exceptions and output a useful diagostic. I was quite careful to
check all system calls for errors (but of course I may have missed stuff.)

Could you have a quick look at lyx_configure.C in the
development\Win32\packaging\installer folder? An extra pair of eyes is always
useful.
