I can personally promise that (until we decide to remove auto*, which
may never happen). It is not terribly difficult to patch auto* once,
and continue to use scons for faster development.
I hereby promise solemnly that I will always update Makefile.am when I
add a new file even if I use another build system. I'll do the same if I
need a new macro (_very_ low probability ;-)).
