This method I have used for a couple of yrs (since version .11 ??). I keep
using it because it works.
I am using LyX version 0.12.0 BETA (Feb 1998).
In my document I use BibTeX for citations. I also use the Natbib style,
so I code the citations with TeX \cite[]{Smith:1998} or
\cite{Smith:1998} for different citation forms Smith (1998) vs (Smith,
1998). There is no info in the LyX UserGuide on how to use BibTex in
conjunction with LyX. I can't just pull down the print menu to print!!
That way I would have just (???) where each citation should be. I guess
that is the main reason I use the procedure I use--I don't know how to get
LyX to do it properly otherwise. Simpler procedures are welcome!
I have been subscribed to the LyX mailing list for maybe a yr or two. Once
long ago I posted about these view dvi problems and the reply was "we
don't know how to fix it". For me this is the biggest problem with
LyX. Here it is: From LyX I try to view dvi or view ps or print. LyX puts
up a box that says "I can't do it, because gs processes are rendering.
Either wait until they are done or kill them by hand". This message is
false (confirmed by running ps or tops). But I am hamstrung. My
workaround is to do stuff from bash. You mean nobody else out there gets
this problem? It is intermittent, BTW, doesn't always happen.
Thanks very much for any further help.
Bill
