Hi to all Lyx users,
I 've been using Lyx 1.0.1 and have the following problem.
Here, in Greece, we use the greek option of the babel package.
However this is very unfriendly since one has to immitate greek letters
(while writing) with loosely resembling latin ones. For instance the word,
which I believe you all know, hemisphere, in greek is called imispherio
(with the pronounciation stressed at the e). In order to write this with
the greek babel option one has to type : hmisfa'irio.
Therefore we use the iso-8859-7 (8 bit) and one guy has writen a
.def file which contains the necessary translations. So when typing in
lyx we switch languages with alt-shift (like in windows) and all is
well. The problem is that if we type both mixed greek and english text,
while the greek text shows fine, the english is been outputed using the
greek font. Lastly in order to view english text we use
e.g. \textlatin{hello how are you ?}.
For the question now (I am sorry if I baffled you), is there any
easy way to assign something like a macro to a key sequence so that when I
switch to the english language, it will precede my expression with
\textlatin{ - obviously I will have to finish this off with a }.
I am curious what the other multilingual lyx users do in those
cases. Any suggestions (even from a wider scope, I am quite new both to
latex and lyx) are welcome.
