Justification of text.

I have read all that I can find on the internet about setting Lyx to 
justify my text.
I have tried using "Paragraph Settings" and setting the button marked 
"Justified", but when
I click on "Apply" the setting reverts to "Default". It will not stay in 
the Justified condition.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?
Lyx does everything that I need from a word processor except this one thing.
