You're making simple things complicated :-)
I guess tou tried to use ERT ?

You only have to Insert->Include the pstex_t file, but take care
tu "Use Input", other options will fail (Use include makes sense
only for chapters, and verbatim is clearly not what you want there).

Beware that changes in the xfig file and re-exporting will probably
not update the dvi file, you may have to Close/Open the doc
fo reset the latex compilation (didn't check this one, I do not use
combined export from xfig often).

tex2pdf works fine with pstex_t includes (I shoud write inputs in fact).
