It's obvious LyX can support this stuff, we just have to get it implemented in a better way! I noticed when I went back to my document, it forgot to do instant preview until I clicked the formula boxes a bunch of times, which was inconvenient. It's also bad that after just learning this, the support will go away in LyX 1.4.
