Anyway I think PDF viewing that works on Vista is more important than a complaint of a user that's probably just about programming style.

Yes. There were questions on the users-list about this naming.
I used the latter because it's the most obvious name for the executable that starts the application in a normal way. Why did you develop a different application if renaming would also be sufficient?
The reason was again Windows Vista. The user who contacted me, had the problem that your launcher couldn't be executed when Vista is run in certain security modes.

I don't have strong opinions about filenames and things like that, so I would suggest to just ask the devel list for opinions and to use the same tools for all installers.
As long as I have been using LyX, lyx.exe was the main executable and I wondered why you changed this. regards Uwe
