I'm using LyX 1.5.4 on Linux, and I see exactly the same as you do. I looked at the exported LaTeX, and I can't see anything there that would make it behave the way it does. Running the LaTeX through both latex and pdflatex fails to generate any clues in the log files. However, I did manage to fix it. I'm not sure why this worked, though. 1. Select the whole row. 2. Set the font to Small Bold (did you realize you had a mixture of Small and Normal?) 3. Right click and set the vertical alignment to Middle.
