This is with both the normal (large) and alternative installers.  The normal
small that downloads didn't work as it couldn't connect to the server(?).

I'm wondering now if that might just be the final message. The [NEXT] button
becomes active but after that Lyx outputs a message saying the MiKTeX setup
wizard was not completed. 
 
I had assumed it was a MiKTex install issue but I've now run the MikTex
install by itself, followed by the Lyx install and it all seems ok. 
 
I guess I was just expecting some more positive confirmation that the MikTex
install had completed successfully than the enabling of the [NEXT] button. And
that was compounded by Lyx complaining.

There's maybe something here that needs looking at?
