Maybe.  I wonder whether an XML diff/merge tool could produce
semantically-correct output given lyxml (the output of my lyx2xml
script).  I'm thinking "close, but no" -- if nothing else because of
conflicts, but even in the case that there are no conflicts there
might be some issues.  The next question is whether it might be
possible to write a stylesheet (in XSLT) to produce
semantically-correct output.

There's a at least one open source XML diff/merge tool ("3DM") that
might serve as the basis for this, but it looks like it needs help to
fit the bill.  There's lots of proprietary XML diff/merge tools that
might work, but we'd need an open source one.
