In fact I know Arturo and some other people involved in this project. I
agree that LyX is best suited for schools, the only reason it has not been
considered is that glyx doesn't yet exist.
BTW Juergen arrives this evening (about 0:30 GMT).

I know. My turn: ;-)
glyx and other ports would be easier with an updated documentation.
IMO the gui independence deserves a document apart from devguide.lyx
discussing menu, toolbar, dialog, minibuffer and workware. (Anyway
devguide.lyx seems to be ignored by most developers).
