Until I see it first hand I dont want / cant say anything. Maybe release next candidate, o attach a diff which will allow to compile the changes and check them out this way.

Although I already see you are overcomplicating it. There is nothing wrong with the same option description in shirt and in long help. If someone can figure out how to get to long help, he can figure out what -v does and will not have any problems with it.

I dont see a reason to differentiate information between the screens. More detailed help means more detail, not different details.
