Yep.

Nothing lasts forever... replace with a NiCd and you get another 20 years.
The system works as we love it, as designed. Lasts for 20 more years or,
more likely, fails for some other reason.

Probably some other leaky cap :-)

And out 20 years, you have to wonder if you're going to be beyond caring.

IMO the NiCd was a fantastic design decision. I have plenty of other
vintage RAM filesystem based devices that use caps or coin cells. They all
suck compared to the 100/102/200 in large part due to the weaknesses of
those memory backup systems.
