What are you connecting the USB cable to? A PC, phone......?? It's that piece of equipment that acts as the bridge. If it's a Linux PC, just connect it and login. Otherwise you need some software to link the two. mComm has a virtual modem mode that will create a telnet connection. But basically you are asking the computer to forward all the text to and from the Linux box to your 100. Your model 100 becomes a dumb terminal at that point. Kurt
