I know it's not 6 volts but I run my m100 off a USB power supply, and it seems OK with just 5 volts. Means I have one less to keep track of but there is the whole cable thing.....

Most of the 6 volt supplies I can find on fleabay are centre positive, so I’ll need to chop the end off and solder on a new barrel connector.
