Try locking your phone and it shouldn't speak again until you unlock the screen again. Since its purpose is to tell you where you are at, the fact that it keeps repeating when a change is detected or every few minutes is probably a design choice rather than requiring a refresh or some kind of gesture to make it speak. IF you are walking and want to know where a particular address is, it would be nice to have it automatically speak rather than having you stop and get the position. maybe a mode selector for continuous and noncontinuous readout would be a nice enhancement to suggest.
