Then the 4gb of ram should be fine. 2gb is the minimum for Lion and so bumping up the ram is always a good investment.
I haven't used the magic trackpad. I only use the trackpad built in to my MacBook Pro. Maybe someone else can offer some thoughts on this. They came up with a 4gb, so I thought that was as high as I could go on a basic macbook. What do you think about the magic trackpad? First of all, you might want to pick up the wired Apple keyboard that has the numpad on it. This can be useful for using the keyboard commander. I think it sells for around $49.0. It might also be helpful to have the Apple bluetooth keyboard so that you can have a separate keyboard while the student is sitting at the Mac. You could also get a second wired keyboard and plug it into the usb port on the first wired keyboard. As for software, Most of the Apple software is now sold online through the app store. The iworks suite would be a good place. It is now sold as separate applications. There is Pages, which is the word processor, Numbers which is the spreadsheet and keynote which is the presentation package. I think they are all $20 in the app store. I would also think that more ram would be a good thing. You can either get this from Apple or order from somewhere like Crucial at a much lower price. I think you should be able to get an 8gb upgrade from Crucial for around $6500. I will be visiting the apple store in the next few days to purchase software and accessories. This macbook will be used for teaching adults with vision disabilities. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what software and accessories I should look at while I am there?
