Hi! Ping also enables artists to make posts linking directly to their albums, or keep their followers updated with tour dates, current events, what they're doing and so-forth. Users can then comment on it and discuss it as they wish, or review user or artist profile.
I personally use it on occasion, as it lets me link to Twitter so when I buy an album, I can choose to write a reason for buying the album which is then published on Twitter along with a direct link to the album in iTunes.
