this is correct. it makes it easier for you and your friends you wish to
share with when a file is too large to email. Also, lets say you are
planning on upgrading your operating system or getting a new computer
dropbox allows you to upload important files so that as soon as you install
dropbox on your new computer the files you placed in dropbox are
automatically placed on that computer.

Subject: Re: A question about this Drop Box programme
Hi tracy.
the folder located on any machine labeled dropbox is like having a shared
folder. having this folder on each machine allows you to store that data
into a specific folder rather than it be open framework across an entire
drive. this is where the folder can be set as a "shared folder" It's handy
that way if someone needs to get to your machine but you don't want
extended privileges to users reading say Documents, etc.
At least I hope I'm right on this lol.
I don't use dropbox as a tool as everything I do is direct networking
based.

Hello group
I hope you don't mind but I have a question about this drop box thing. I
am apparently being given a Mac for my Christmas present by Gordon and
Lynne which is amazing enough. But Lynne is talking about Drop Box
because she says it would let us synchronise our machines with music and
things.
Anyway the thing I am confused about is this. If the files are stored on
the Drop Box which as I understand it is a remote web site, how is it
that there is a Drop Box folder on the hard drive of every machine that
is synchronised? What I'm asking is what's the point if all your machines
are on the same net? For example if I can log into Gordon and Lynne's
machines, why use Drop Box because all of the files are accessible
anyway? I'm sorry for the probably dumb question but I'm confused.
Have a good Tuesday no matter how much is left of it where you are.
