just in the issues of history sake, back in the early 90's when apple computer was still the old way, there were apple clones around from umax and power computing. At the time, apple was interested in supporting the product but they had to follow licensing from apple. After a long legal case, this went wrong and Steve HJobbs axed all clone support with a law suit.
The way Mac OS, especially OS X works in the security aspect is, the software detects a chip installed on the logic board as well as open firmware or EFI, so OS X and the older MAC OS had a security point installed, locking the operating system to apple only systems. This is still the same today. There are some folk in this world who think that creating "Hackintosh" systems is a good thing. unfortunately, it damages the sales and production reputation of apple. hence a recent lawsuit taking action against a rather recent developer who cracked OS X and built "hackintosh systems" that way. In my honest opinion as well as fact stated by apple. this is illegal and voids warranty, support, etc to the product. Even though the hardware we use in our iMacs, Macbook Pro,s and Mac Pro's use state of the art hardware, the chipsets alone are relatively standard. I think it's best we close this subject and discourage cloning and "Hackintosh" actions from this list. As we all represent apple as users, pro users and engineers, we keep apple close to us. lew On 16 Dec 2011, at 19:50, Mrs. Lynnette Annabel Smith wrote: > Hello Glenn > > There's no legal installation on a PC, as far as I'm aware anyway.
